His officer training at the Theresianischen Military Academy in Austria was followed by 6 years as a Special Commander in the army. For one year Chris Alge was a deployed UN officer. His stays as a photographer and cameraman in Southeast Asia, Australia and America were followed by a series of lectures and seminars in Central Europe. A highlight in 1993 was a slide show with 8 Maoris. In 1994 and 1996 he travelled as a cameraman and photographer on two world cycling tours. Detailed reports on these trips are available from SAT 1 (90 min. film) and mirror-TV (30 min. film).

The illustrated cycling tour of 80 days around the world with photos of Chris Alge has appeared on bestseller lists and sold over 20,000 copies.

Since 1997 Chris Alge has been the managing director of
HIGH 5 outdoor GmbH, and a popular outdoor coach.

In 1997 and 2003 he received the innovation award of tourism and has worked since then as a lecturer at several international conferences.

Chris Alge founded in 2002 "the outdoor trophy" (outdoortrophy.com) ), an extreme sports competition in mountain running, paragliding, whitewater kayaking and mountain biking

He also founded "The Outdoor Academy" (outdoorakademie.com) - a platform for team development and communication for companies, their employees and customers in 2005.

In 2006 Chris Alge (photographer) along with Gerhard Czerner (film) accompanied the "child - aids awareness expedition" by Joachim Franital to the Aconcagua.

In January 2008 a team led by Joachim Franital and Chris Alge crossed the Kilimanjaro with business clients.
